Bayer Leverkusen have no intention of allowing Sidney Sam to leave
Bayer Leverkusen consider Sidney Sam to be a 'valuable' asset and have no intention of selling him during the winter window.
Sam is believed to be a target for Schalke, as they seek attacking cover for the injured Ibrahim Afellay.
Leverkusen are aware of the interest, but are reading little into it.
With Sam under contract until 2015, the Bundesliga outfit have made it clear that any approach for his services will be swiftly knocked back.
"Sidney Sam is staying," general manager Rudi Voller told Kolner Stadtanzeiger.
"He is a valuable piece in our puzzle for the first team and will be an important player in the second half of the season. We are sure of that.
"There is no alternative to this decision. We are not selling him to any club."
